Steven has had a love for firearms since a young age when he used to go hunting with his family. As he grew older, he decided to increase his knowledge of firearms by researching, reading and visiting local gun stores to test his knowledge of various firearms.
Steven's tenacity helped spark his interest to seek certification as a firearms instructor. Years of knowledge and practical exercises on the gun range have equipped Steven with the skills and knowledge to successfully teach firearms courses.
His love for firearms is evident in his teaching style and interactions with his students.
Billy Newson
Firearms Instructor
Billy's love for firearms began over 30 years ago as an enthusiast. Throughout the years, he's taken numerous marksmanship courses and sharpened his knowledge regarding the safe handling of firearms, operating and use of various types of firearms and accessories.
Billy describes his instruction as calm and detail oriented and focuses on the fundamentals of a firearm (grip, sight alignment, trigger control), and real‑world marksmanship skills which is ideal for those students who are a novice. His philosophy is "safety first and always", as his goal is to ensure that his students are competent, responsible gun owners able to handle, store, and operate their firearms safely.
Michael
Wissman
Firearms Instructor
Michael’s interest in firearms was ignited for his love of all things mechanical. He finds it inherently fascinating learning how mechanisms work together and how we can best interface with them.
Michael’s top skills which he relies on are Target Acquisition, Trigger Control and Firearm Manipulation (reloading and clearing jams). During Covid, Michael spent countless hours dry firing a practice gun to sharpen his shooting skills as most ranges were closed. Focusing on quick reaction times when aiming at targets, acquiring a clear sight picture, working through the trigger and safely checking for jams and then refocusing on the target are vital proficiencies to increase the skillset of any shooter.
Incorporating real world scenarios and experiences are what Michael believes makes the learning experience the most engaging and practical. Asking questions is what Michael feels will be the most efficient method to grasping, learning and incorporating and skills and lessons from his courses.
